We Are Daughters of God.

So I guess I'm just pissy, or I just have been spending way too much time on facebook but, I've been noticing a trend of "Dear girls did you know that when you wear _________ you look stupid and it's immodest and it gives people dirty thoughts" as statuses. And quite frankly, I think it's super offensive.
While I do believe that modesty is very important, this approach of declaring one's beliefs is just disgusting. I've also noticed that the majority of the statuses are posted by men, and while it's fine to have an opinion on women's fashion and modesty choices,  I think we all must remember, as women, we are divine daughters of a king. We have our agency and if we choose to wear something, our Father in Heaven will still love us no matter how modest or immodest. And while others thoughts may be in control or out of control, it is still her God given right to exercise her agency.  I mean if it's not tank tops it will be leggings, or low cut shirt, or tight jeans. The female form will always be there. And think of the poor girl who happen to be wearing that outfit that has just been bashed by her friends in a public form. Is that really the way you would want her to feel in order to make your point? Doesn't she deserve to feel like the princess she is?
I do want to encourage women to be modest, but not because some man will have an issue with your body, but because we are all beautiful and we should give our beautiful bodies the respect they deserve. Show your love for the gift Heavenly Father has given you by dressing modestly, and seek only His definition on what that should be. When you choose to do this, I promise you it will make you not only feel comfortable with yourself, you will look and feel amazing.

Life Lesson

Random story of the night that got me rambling and over-thinking....
So tonight Garin and I locked our keys in our car after band practice. And... at first it seemed to really piss us off. I was mad he left the keys in, which really frustrated him more that he already was. Well eventually, we just started laughing. His parents came to help us out, we called a lock smith, and continued to laugh. There wasn't anything else we could do. Any wire hangers or tools to ghetto jimmy the door open would be in my car...which we can't get into, it's 10pm, we're tired and thirsty... so we just laughed. I even asked him at one point "is it funny yet?" and it hit me, there is no point in getting angry with one another.
And of course I'm not an expert with my 6 month of marriage but I felt like it really testified to me how important it is to be Christ-like with your spouse. It got me thinking tonight on how it's things like this that start to crack a family. Small things that just boil over, and lead to more and more anger and bitterness.
I hope I can continue to strive to be a patient person, and that I can work on laughing at myself more and not to be easily angered. <3 nbsp="">

All The Things I Haven't Shared About My Summer

Okay so I'm so far behind in bragging about how awesome life is.... sorry.
First one of my favorite people EVER got married last month. It was such a beautiful sealing and she looked just stunning.

Then there was an amazing visit to the Jensen's house in which I got these super adorable pictures (and pigged out on good food.)

Then there was Garin's Birthday... in which he was spoiled properly. I finally mastered my absolute best dairy free pancakes and... I successfully poached eggs... so I feel like a champ and like I'm on my way to being a dairy free master chef. He ALSO got world's best dairy free cookies...so basically I was cooking all day for him ;).

Being the poor newly weds that we are, I thought it would be best to get him a ton of small stuff so he could have tons to open :).
Also, I feel so happy that I now have officially been a band geek in three different states and I've been having a blast being a part of the city band here.

Well that's it for now, ahaha this was a pretty lazy post but... meh!

Hmmm

So I'm living in Twin Falls with my my in laws and before people start freaking out, we are very close and it hasn't been weird at all. I guess the only tough thing I'm really struggling with is that I have been really hard on myself while I've been here. Not sure why, I just have.
I have been LOVING the piano lessons I've been teaching and Garin got to teach a district wide drum camp and guess who got to be the "special guest artist"... THIS GIRL! ahah I'm not sure why he referred to me that way... but I LOVED every second of helping out and of giving mallet presentations.
We did end that crazy drum week with a quick trip to Logan and I think it was a really good way to de-stress. We felt like newlyweds again! YAY! We made an appearance at a reception had a lovely date night,... slept...ALOT. It was amazing!
OH and for those of you who have ever been in my car... we got the ticking fixed... and strangely enough... I really miss it :'(

Quack, Quack, Goose!

I love ducks, we had old tortillas, so we found ducks to feed. Garin played a new game... and boy, getting tortilla to land on a duck's back sure is hard...but he won. Also, geese hang out as a family. We saw 3 happy geese families... sooo cute. I love the summer.

 Our best duck faces!
